Biography:
Julie
Mainstone is a singer whose natural talent, extensive travels and a passion
for old songs have made her one of the Northwest's finest interpreters
of Celtic and traditional song. She's spent many years tracking down
rarely heard material from Ireland, the British Isles, Canada, and the
United States. Based in the Seattle area, Julie's unique voice is
becoming well known to concertgoers and musicians throughout the region.
Her debut
recording, "Cross the Field" is a powerful collection of choice material,
and features some of the finest Celtic musicians in the U.S., including
John Williams (ex-Solas member) on accordion and flute, Randal Bays on
guitar and fiddle, Leo MacNamara on flute and Tom Creegan on uilleann pipes.
The album was produced by Randal Bays.
Julie has worked with Loomis House Press in the republishing of a very old and rare
collection of songs from Nova Scotia. Most of these 150 melodies
have never been heard before and will be a rich resource for musicians
and folklorists alike. The publication will be available in late
2003. |
